I don't pass along much from other forums, but I liked one from "Overheard in the News Room" well enough to make an exception.

What about the period between Gutenberg and Google?
TJP: Pamphlets, broadsides, and, later, newspapers were produced by human beings -- reporters -- asking questions of other human beings. Coffee shops and arriving ships and coaches were prime news gathering spots. Newsmen were wind-in-the hair types, not office drones. (The AP grew out of correspondents taking pilot boats out to incoming vessels to get a competitive jump on other newspapers.)
I dunno about that Bing thing, John. Wouldn't I be sending money to the Gnomes of Redmond?
Open carry in Iowa cities if 100% legal if the person has a handgun cary license - the purpose of the license is to carry handguns - openly or concealed. See more at OpenCarry.org

I don't know about that, but Bing does respect our holidays, honors our dead, and doesn't openly suck up to tinpot tyrants. YMMV.
