Overlord
June 6, 1944, on the shingle beaches of Normandy. Not much new can be said after 69 years, but it is meet to remind one another, "Please remember."
I was there on the 25th Anniversary, 44-years ago when I was eleven. I'll never forget (or even quite comprehend) the number of crosses massed on those green fields... God Bless our guys.
I envy you. A visit to the invasion beaches is still on my list.
I was a not much more than a toddler when it ended, but I came to know the guys who made it through and came home. Some were relatives. Others became my teachers, Sunday School teachers, scoutmasters, and, in time, professional mentors. So, yes, bless 'em all.
