A man should keep his cool about President Barack Obama. He should be mocked as a figure of fun, as a caricature of a President because this is what he is. President Obama is ultimate expression of Chicago ethnic-group and precinct politics.

But it is hard to stay detached and calm while watching him milk government by sob story for every crocodile tear he has in his demagogic soul. He gloats over the Democratic Party Payback Decree he is about to sign. His White House audience of American political masters is applauding wildly as he displays his glee at a bill which (a) will adversely affect millions, because, he claims, (b) it might help three of four of the saddest cases he could find after sending his messengers throughout all the provinces of his realm, looking for anecdotes to fill the void left by his abandonment of rational discourse.

This is more of a question than a comment. How are the feds going to enforce the provision requiring everyone to have health insurance, even if they have to buy it themselves? Will they have to file a proof of insurance care with their income tax returns? Sounds like the DMV. Or, will the feds find a way to match up SS #s with insurance policy #s. Makes big brother seem like a dotty uncle. I think the provision is unconstitutional, but that will have to wait for another day. JAGSC

As closely as I can tell Congress has left the details to the various agencies who have a few months or so to find ways to circumvent the Constitution, sound medical practice, the will the the productive citizens, and good sense.

No one is contradicting reports that the IRS will be the enforcement agency and needs to hire something like 15,000 new money cops. I assume the annual federal meddling into your private affairs will now order you also to report your health-care arrangements in detail.

Could you offer your observations on the prospects for the state suits to block mandatory insurance? Especially, (1) What are the prospects for mandamus-like orders blocking enforcement while the courts ponder and (2) Is there a prayer in Hell that the courts might block or modify this thing on Constitutional grounds?

Don't even get me started on this. Going back at least to the civil rights days, the Feds decided that the commerce clause provided a gateway past the "all powers not expressly granted to the central government are reserved to the states" provision of the Constitution. Once one such argument was successful, it's been a land rush of federal power grab, all in the name of "good". Get ready for another application of that argument. The possibility of a temporary injunction to stop implementation of Obamacare is slim, but there may be one or two federal courts that will issue one. As for ultimate success in overturning this abomination, the tea leaves have not yet settled. JAGSC
